You're playing on $100/$50 NL table? I don't like to go above $0.25/0.10 on Pokerstars. Congrats on the well played poker though :).

I am playing on $100NL which should be deceiving to online players... my bad. The buy in is $100. The antes are only $1 / $2. I also play on the $500, with a $5 / $10, but that is another game altogether.

On with the show....

ANGLE SHOOTER - Round 1 (Note: An Angler is either an outright cheater or quasi cheater bending the rules for an advantage outside the norm.)

New guy sits down at the table... after about 4 hands he is in early position and raises 3 chips. I have QJ and come along for the ride with another caller in front and two behind me. It is important to note that the last caller has a tiny chip stack and is drinking beer.

FLOP:

J 10 5 - two suited cards. (clubs)

ANGLE SHOOTER DOUCHE waits for a bit then quickly lightly taps the table twice (checks)

Guy in front of me checks and I check... guy behind me bets 5 chips then ANGEL SHOOTER says... hey wait... he is out of turn. I protest as do the other two players before and after me in the hand, but the dealer says he did not see it. I have seen this move before and I know what is up. He waits and waits for the dealer to look away and taps quickly and lightly to push the action forward. He does it when he has a premium hand from an early position that he got no re-raise with and now wants free information. He then proceeds to bet 20 chips. Fold... I Fold... previous 10 chip better goes to withdrawl and ANGLE SHOOTER DOUCHE complains that the money already crossed the line. I call him out and let explain to the whole table that he has AA or KK at the worst. He goes through the roof and I continue with exposing his cheat. He does not want the tiny stack calling to expose his play. I promptly tell Mr. Tiny Stack that I would like to buy him a beer.... he promptly calls with his 45 spades. ANGLER turns red. But... refuses to call the floor man. The casino likely knows his antics well and has seen him before at the wrong end of disputes.

TURN:
6 diamonds

RIVER:
6 clubs

I buy a beer and the cheater is exposed. He is mad... and tilts all of his chips out within 10 minutes and does not rebuy.

FIRST BLUFFER

I will cut the chase because I am tired.... bottom line... the river comes with a sizeable pot and I have a tell on a guy I have been watching for about an hour. His breathing pattern is rapid when he has a hand. You can seen his chest and shoulders move with his breathes. I have A7 sooted and the board shows

7 J K 3 2 no flush.

He into a pot of $60 - $20 on the river. He is a statue and not breathing. Hold the bluff... hold it.... turning blue.... I CALL.

He mucks and won't show. Sucks to be so obvious. An older black man sitting two seats from him and who is the only other class player at the table at this time smiles at me. It is that knowing smile giving the other shark at the table confirmation that yeah... we got these guys... and isn't this fun. It is also a way to send the stay out of my way and I stay out of your way message. We keep pots small when it is just us.

New Bully In Town

A guy sits down about 2 hands after the last hand. He sits right next to me... he is a HUGE talker on how great his game is. We will see. After about 1/2 hour I got him pegged. Big Bully player, smart, but not a genius on the green felt. Slow play him and be weary of big bets. He knows pot management and only goes big when he has it or is bluffing. I have not figured out a tell yet...

I have Q7 diamonds from the big blind and get in without a raise and he and 3 other players.

FLOP:

J T 9 (Two clubs)

I am first and have two options... bet on the come (25%) chance but a club could come so my outs are reduced to more like 21% if someone is on a flush draw. I also have Mr. Aggressive acting after me. He only bets 2 chips and we have no callers... I dabble and call.

TURN:

8 hearts

Bingo. I am first and decide that he likes action cards... so I check. I think I can get a raise and the re-pop small or just call and burn him on the river. I want to see his move.

He pushes all the fuck in? WTF? That was not expected. I go into the think tank. Is this guy better than I thought or worse than I thought? KQ? Not likely... he would have raised more preflop. Q and I am in a tie? But if that is the case he just risked a ton of chips to pick up a split of a small pot. That makes no sense. A big bluff? Why risk so much? He can bluff me for far less if I missed. Then it hits me... I have to repeat... this is the best poker play I have had in over a year as far as skill and reads. He has the Q of clubs and some other fucked up club. He is FREE ROLLING ME! Bastard... that is brilliant if true. I look him up and down and he is not giving anything away. I underestimated this guy. I want to rattle him at this point for pulling such a great move on me to send a warning shot across his bow. I fold my cards face up and say... no free rolling on me... you can have the little pot.

He slams his cards down face up Q clubs 4 clubs and rages, " No guts... No glory!"

I laugh and retort... no brains... no chips. He actually laughed with me and played nice the rest of the night with me, but I did manage to pick off about $100 from him.

Episode II: Return of the Douche (Angler)

The nerve of this fucker to come back. I explain to the my "new friend" next to me that the guy is playing angles. He nods. Sure enough he pulls the exact same crap with the quick check when the dealer is looking away. Funny thing is that three other players including the guy sitting next to me all bark out at the same time. Was that a check? Did you Check? What was that? Douche bets 10 chips immediately... big over bet pre-flop and everyone folds. The old black dude sitting next to him asks him if it was AA or KK. Everyone laughs.... except the angle shooter. He quiets up quickly.

A few hands later I have 89 hearts. middle position. I call and get two other callers including Mr. Douche in the big blind.

FLOP:

6 7 hearts J diamonds.

Angel shooter pushed all in. I call. Other player folds.

We both flip and he chastises me for the call. Dumb ass has QQ and did not play it right pre-flop. Now he is actually a dog... sure enough....

TURN:

3 hearts.

RIVER:

Q Hearts!

I told him I was impressed with his trips as I raked in the pot... he left again after calling me a donkey.

only a hundred dollar buy-in for 1/2 NL? seems to be begging for rebuys. then again, from your post, it seems most of those guys were fish anyhow so it doesn't really matter. I strictly play online and in Vegas, but you're bantha fodder there with just a hundred bucks at a 1/2.

nice to see another slacker who plays outside of the nickel and dime games. what site do you play on? I'm currently checking out my options, been an avid player of full tilt for about 5 years but I've recently moved and had to renew all my bank cards so I'll be eligible for the fat initial deposit bonuses. used to play under screen names "fluketastic", "choiden" and "darth jayder", all on full tilt. fluketastic has participated in the FTOPS main event (3-4 years ago). ended up cashing out for 2500ish, and it was a 500 dollar buy in. happened to be an early birthday gift to myself that year :)

So Nicee you should go back through the old poker threads. Wroot came in 2nd in a poker tournament that started out online . They flew the top 10 players in the tournament to Tahiti to finish the tournament . Wroot made like $165K when he did a partial split with the chip leader.

that is fucking awesome. the more I age and my career progresses, the more I hope to be able to play high stakes poker without fear of losing rent money :) there was a pretty good time period a few years ago where me and one of my best friends were seriously considering dropping out of college and moving to vegas to play full time. in the end, we were both too pussy to try it. one of those things I may regret 30+ years down the road in my life.

** holy shit, WROOT is serious business. I thought I was hot shit with my "career earnings of 20k!", but that's nothing! too bad he doesn't post anymore I'd love to pick his poker brain and find out more of his experiences, what books he's read, etc etc. reading a few books definitely improved my game 10 fold, no pun intended.

in the mean while, I've been hitting up the local casino and I deposited some money on Full Tilt to start playing online again.

Full Tilt is treating me really nice lately, I've made some decent bucks playing there and I picked up a new book that I'm digging. focuses mainly on ring games, which are my specialty. I'm a decent tournament player too, but I'll never win a big one. My style is more of the "cash" method than the "gotta win" method.

I'm getting rekindled on the game and can't wait for my trip to vegas at the end of this month. I always clean up there.
