I think that people who get involved with social work, much like any other profession that deals in assisting the public sector, start with altruistic ideas but as time goes on, and they deal with more and more horrible/dumb/crazy people/events, become jaded and lose their capacity to care.

thing is, i am almost certain that her sin is being absolutely passive when her supervisor decided to start hallucinating about wasted resources or inappropriate use of social work time rather than actually ratting me out or saying something inappropriate. i mean, i don't even care about the whys and wherefores of how the vice boss came to her looney conclusion because it is so blatantly obvious these dudes were perfect sw candidates.

the part that cobs my corn is how could you sit there while someone is making a tangibly incorrect analysis of the evidence that will result in them blaming one of your co-workers for a problem that isn't, in fact, a problem? where's your spine? the fuck?

I read all of n's posts thinking 'oh that sucks, sounds like something that sucks that happens in the workplace'.

Based on the limited evidence I would tend to suspect that she was attempting to throw you under the bus. Maybe her boss asked her why she wasn't getting her work done, and rather than taking responsibility for herself she tried to use you passing her too many cases as an excuse.

Erindor has it on the button. She probably thought she could blame you for her slackness and she'd get away with it. She probably didn't expect her boss to attempt to confront you. Then she came back 10min later and agreed one guy was crazy as a way to semi-apologize and validate your position so you wouldn't hate her.
