I think that people who get involved with social work, much like any other profession that deals in assisting the public sector, start with altruistic ideas but as time goes on, and they deal with more and more horrible/dumb/crazy people/events, become jaded and lose their capacity to care.

I include in this list
paramedics
firemen
teachers
call center people

I don't include lawyers, they don't have any souls to begin with. :)

the part that cobs my corn is how could you sit there while someone is making a tangibly incorrect analysis of the evidence that will result in them blaming one of your co-workers for a problem that isn't, in fact, a problem? where's your spine? the fuck?

and then you're in here 10 minutes later going HOLY SHIT THAT ONE GUY

yes. that one guy. and the four others much worse off than him.

shit. SHIT.

thug: he wears at least 3 pairs of socks. you can tell through the overlapping holes. no way i'm checking for boxers. but i feel so bad for him. i wish i could convince him to go for some head help.

I read all of n's posts thinking 'oh that sucks, sounds like something that sucks that happens in the workplace'.

People cover themselves and are bastards when they're up against a wall. And what the hell you gonna do. And 'angrily do your job' tends to get you marked. Can't win! Can, not, lose. It is a sucktastic paradigm.

I've won so many tiny victories but in the end lost the war because i was too combative against incompetents, which was the equivalent of alienating half of the future management cycle.

All we do is vent. 'Cause if any of us had a solution we wouldn't be us.

Erindor has it on the button. She probably thought she could blame you for her slackness and she'd get away with it. She probably didn't expect her boss to attempt to confront you. Then she came back 10min later and agreed one guy was crazy as a way to semi-apologize and validate your position so you wouldn't hate her.

The only solution is to destroy her; professionally and spiritually.

If you were really a dick, you'd hire a local shit-list actor to come in and be a total mental patient. Then "refer" his case to her and have the actor really do a number on her. Setup a hidden camera beforehand so you can record the fun then put it on Youtube to be distributed on the intertubes forever.

I think we have enough characters for a sitcom... or a really bad porno.
